Generate a structured, prioritized product roadmap from raw feature ideas and business goals using AI.

Steps

  1. Open ChatGPT (chat.openai.com) or Claude (claude.ai) and start a new chat.
  2. Copy the prompt template below into the chat.
  3. Replace each {variable} in curly braces with your real details — your product name, target users, current stage, top 3 business goals, and your list of feature ideas (even if messy).
  4. Press Enter and read the generated roadmap.
  5. If priorities feel off, reply with one short correction, e.g. 'Move {feature} to Now because it blocks onboarding' or 'Remove anything that doesn't support goal {goal}.'
  6. Copy the final roadmap into Notion, Google Docs, or Linear as your living roadmap.
  7. Share the link with your team and assign owners to each 'Now' item.

Prompts to Use

You are a senior product manager helping a startup founder build a clear, actionable product roadmap. Context: - Product: {product_name} - Target users: {target_users} - Current stage: {current_stage} - Top 3 business goals for the next quarter: {business_goals} - Raw feature ideas (unsorted, may overlap): {feature_ideas} Constraints: - Group features into three time horizons: Now (next 30 days), Next (30-90 days), Later (90+ days). - For each feature, give a one-line description, the business goal it supports, a rough effort estimate (S/M/L), and a priority rationale. - Flag any feature that does not clearly support one of the three goals and suggest cutting or repurposing it. - Use plain language a non-technical co-founder can understand. - Output as a markdown table grouped by time horizon, followed by a short 'Cut or reconsider' list. Output format: ## Now | Feature | Description | Goal supported | Effort | Why now | ... ## Next ... ## Later ... ## Cut or reconsider - ...
